Capehart Scatchard Co-Hosts National Workers' Compensation
Defense Network Fall Conference
Mt. Laurel, NJ - - Capehart Scatchard co-hosted the National Workers' Compensation Defense Network Fall Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 14 and 15, 2009. Both Lora V. Northen, Esq. and John H. Geaney, Esq. were speakers at this event.
In her presentation, Ms. Northen moderated a panel discussion on The Best Practices in Workers' Compensation: What Do Employers, TPAs and Carriers Expect From Defense Counsel? Her discussion covered effective methods of communication and maximizing client involvement in the case.
In his discussion, Mr. Geaney presented on the topic of the 2008 Amendments to the ADA and FMLA and their impact on workers' compensation. His presentation covered new provisions on sick leave and workers' compensation and how the definition of disability is changing under the ADA Amendments Act.
In addition to her responsibilities as Co-Chair of the Workers' Compensation Department, Ms. Northen, a Pennsauken resident, focuses her practice in the representation of employers, self-insured companies, and insurance carriers. Certified as a trial attorney by the Supreme Court of New Jersey in Workers' Compensation Law, Ms. Northen is a member of the New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Burlington County and Camden County Bar Associations, and before the United States Supreme Court. She is a frequent speaker on workers' compensation issues before a myriad of trade organizations.
As member of the Firm's executive committee, Mr. Geaney, a resident of Moorestown, is the author of Geaney's New Jersey Workers' Compensation Manual and A Guide to Employment Issues Under the ADA & FMLA co-distributed by the Firm and the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education. Certified as a trial attorney by the Supreme Court of New Jersey in Workers' Compensation Law, Mr. Geaney concentrates his practice in the representation of employers in workers' compensation defense matters, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act.
