Workers' Compensation Shareholders
Address New Jersey Self Insurers' Association
Mt. Laurel, NJ - - Capehart Scatchard Shareholder, John H. Geaney, Esq. and Lora V. Northen, Esq. and Richard E. Hickey, III, former Administrative Supervisory Judge, recently spoke at the New Jersey Self Insurers' Association Seminar at the Crowne Plaza in Monroe Township, New Jersey.
The presentation centered on a mock trial in the workers' compensation arena. The speakers presented a fact scenario to the audience and then took testimony of the petitioner, who was played by Emily Sullivan of Sedgwick CMS. In their presentation, they covered questions to consider on direct examination and on cross examination. The judge then commented on the testimony taken at the mock trial.
A seasoned workers' compensation practitioner for over 28 years, Mr. Geaney, a Moorestown resident, is the author of G eaney's New Jersey Workers' Compensation Manual and A Guide to Employment Issues Under the ADA & FMLA distributed by the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education. Mr. Geaney concentrates his practice in the representation of employers in workers' compensation defense matters, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act.

Ms.
Northen, a Pennsauken resident, focuses her practice in the representation of employers, self-insured companies, and insurance carriers. Certified as a trial attorney by the Supreme Court of New Jersey in Workers' Compensation Law, Ms. Northen is a member of the New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Burlington County and Camden County Bar Associations, and is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. Ms. Northen is also a Fellow of the College of Workers' Compensation Attorneys for the American Bar Association. She is a frequent speaker on workers' compensation issues before a myriad of trade organizations.
Judge Hickey, a West Deptford resident, received his law degree from Suffolk University School of Law and his B.S. degree in business administration from American International College. He currently serves as an adjunct professor for Rutgers Camden School of Law. Judge Hickey served as a Workers' Compensation Judge from 1991 until 2009. Prior to becoming a judge, he served as a prosecutor for the County of Gloucester from 1986 until 1991.
