Kids’ Chance of NJ

Attorneys from Capehart Scatchard’s Workers’ Compensation Department recently hit the greens for a great cause at the 4th Annual Kids’ Chance of New Jersey Golf Outing. Held on September 29, 2025, at Scotland Run Golf Club in Williamstown, New Jersey, the firm proudly served as the event’s Sign Sponsor.

The outing raised more than $35,000 in support of Kids’ Chance of New Jersey, an organization dedicated to providing scholarships for college and vocational education to children of New Jersey workers who have been fatally or catastrophically injured in a work-related accident.

Attorneys and staff from Capehart Scatchard’s Workers’ Compensation Department recently attended the Tenth Annual Fundraising Gala and Auction for Kids’ Chance of New Jersey (“KCNJ”). The event was held on July 25, 2024, at the Hilton in East Brunswick, N.J.

KCNJ is a non-profit organization, created to provide scholarships for college and vocational education to children of workers who have been fatally or catastrophically injured in a work-related accident. John Geaney, Co-Chair of the Workers’ Compensation Department, serves as a member of KCNJ’s Board of Directors. Marketing Department Co-Directors, Carol Wright and Beth Hopkins, serve as members of the Active Founder Board and Advisory Board, respectively.

The highlight of the Gala featured the presentation of scholarships to students whose parents suffered fatal or physically catastrophic injuries while working.  Eighteen students were awarded scholarships for the upcoming school year.  Capehart Scatchard was a co-sponsor of the scholarship given to Benjamin Moskovitz, whose father is permanently disabled from a work-related back injury. Mr. Moskovitz is a second-year student at the University of Delaware.

Several attorneys from Capehart Scatchard’s Workers’ Compensation Department recently played a round of golf at the 2nd Annual Kids’ Chance of New Jersey’s Golf Outing. The firm sponsored a hole at the event held at the Mercer Oaks Golf Course in West Windsor, New Jersey on September 12, 2023.

All proceeds from the golf tournament will be used to support the mission of Kids’ Chance to provide scholarships for college and vocational education to children of New Jersey workers who have been fatally or catastrophically injured in a work-related accident.

Attorneys and staff from Capehart Scatchard’s Workers’ Compensation Department recently attended the Ninth Annual Fundraising Gala and Auction for Kids’ Chance of New Jersey (“KCNJ”). To date, KCNJ has raised over one million dollars to provide scholarships for children of injured workers. The event was held on July 20, 2023, at the Hilton in East Brunswick, N.J.

KCNJ is a non-profit organization, created to provide educational opportunities and scholarships for the children of workers who were fatally or catastrophically injured on the job. John Geaney, Co-Chair of the Workers’ Compensation Department, serves as a member of the Kids’ Chance Board of Directors. Marketing Department Co-Directors, Carol Wright and Beth Hopkins, serve as members of the Active Founder Board and Advisory Board, respectively.

Kids’ Chance of New Jersey is a non-profit organization created to provide educational opportunities and scholarships for the children of workers who were fatally or catastrophically injured on the job.  John Geaney and Lora Northen, shareholders in the firm, serve as members of the Kids’ Chance Board of Directors, and Director of Marketing, Carol Wright, serves as an Advisory Board member.

Our instructor, Maya Augelli, completed her 200 hour vinyasa training with Maiga Milbourne and Christie DiStefano at Yogawood in Collingswood, NJ and is certified as an RYT-200 through Yoga Alliance. Her classes balance energy and fun with stillness and opportunity for focusing on the internal journey.

Costs are $12 for one class / $40 for a four class package. All monies received are donated directly to Kids’ Chance.
