Capehart Scatchard, one of New Jersey’s oldest and largest law firms, proudly celebrates its 150th anniversary, marking a century and a half of unparalleled client service, legal excellence, and commitment to community engagement. The firm commemorated the milestone with a reception held at its Mount Laurel, New Jersey office on May 19, 2026.
Founded in 1876 by Thomas F. French, a self-educated lawyer, the firm has grown from its early roots in Camden, New Jersey, to a highly respected legal institution. Throughout its history, Capehart Scatchard has remained dedicated to delivering outstanding legal services while continuously adapting to the evolving needs of clients and the ever-changing technological landscape.
“Blaine Capehart, who joined the firm of French, Richards and Bradley in 1933 and became a named partner in 1939, was an inspiration and role model over nearly seven decades for countless attorneys and professionals at our law firm. His legacy lives on. As we celebrate 150 years of service to the legal community, we proudly remember Mr. Capehart’s commitment to providing the highest quality legal representation while demonstrating great personal integrity,” said John Geaney, Executive Committee Member of Capehart Scatchard.
“Being part of Capehart Scatchard to celebrate this milestone is a privilege. The success and longevity of the firm is the result of a dedicated staff, exceptional talent and strong leadership. Being part of “Team Capehart” for the last 22 years is one of my proudest professional achievements,” added Executive Committee Member, Yasmeen Khaleel.
