On October 11, 2022, a panel of Capehart Scatchard attorneys and New Jersey Superior Court Judicial Law Clerk, Summer Cordasco, presented a CLE entitled “Mental Health in the Legal Profession and Workplace.” Shareholder Ana-Eliza Bauersachs served as moderator for the CLE hosted by the Diversity & Inclusion Committee at the firm.
The panel, composed of Shareholders, Maura Burk, Sanmathi “Sanu” Dev and Yasmeen Khaleel, Associates, Maxx Budline and Stacey Gorin, and Ms. Cordasco, provided insight on mental health issues faced by law school students and legal professionals. Covered topics included the New Jersey Bar Exam’s Character and Fitness inquiries into treatment and mental health diagnoses, reducing the stigma associated with seeking help for mental health issues, and how mental health affects different populations. The CLE wrapped up with an exchange on how to be an ally for someone struggling with mental health issues and strategies for practicing self-care.
