Capehart Scatchard Shareholder, John H. Geaney, Esq., spoke on September 27, 2022 at the New Jersey Public Risk Management Association’s (NJPRIMA) First Annual Workers’ Comp Seminar. The event was held at The Boat House at Mercer Lake in West Windsor Township, NJ.
Mr. Geaney, who is a Board Member of NJPRIMA, spoke at a program entitled “Cannabis and Comp.” He presented on the issue of medicinal medical marijuana and its impact on employers, carriers and third party administrators in terms of reimbursement for the cost of medical marijuana, dealing with employees appearing under the influence or using the substance while at work, and whether or not an employer can ever successfully argue that a worker has reached maximal medical improvement with respect to medical marijuana.
Mr. Geaney is Co-Chair of Capehart Scatchard’s Workers’ Compensation Group. He is active in the New Jersey Self Insurers’ Association (Membership and Programs Committees) as well as Kids’ Chance of New Jersey. Mr. Geaney is a member of the National Workers’ Compensation Defense Network and is the author of Geaney’s New Jersey Workers’ Compensation Manual for Practitioners, Physicians, Adjusters, and Employers.
