Capehart Scatchard is pleased to welcome two rising third-year law students to its Summer Law Clerk Program.

Capehartโ€™s summer program is designed to give law clerks an opportunity to get a feel of what it would be like to be a Capehart Scatchard associate. Summer clerks work on real projects and have an opportunity to explore many areas of the law and to work directly with attorneys within the Firm who concentrate in a wide variety of legal fields. In addition to research and writing, summer clerks have an opportunity to attend depositions, client meetings, hearings, conferences, and closings.

Firm attorneys, Ashley Attinello, Alexis Rose, David Siegel, and Jason Sikoryak, recently participated as Team โ€œLimp Biscuitโ€ in the Food Bank of South Jerseyโ€™s โ€œHunger Gamesโ€ food competition.ย  The annual fundraising event was held at the Food Bankโ€™s headquarters in Pennsauken, NJ on May 2, 2024.

The Hunger Games competition is a fun, team building challenge with proceeds going to benefit the Food Bankโ€™s hunger relief programs for children. At this yearโ€™s event, six corporate teams received one box of mystery ingredients and had 45 minutes to whip up a dish for three food savvy judges in a live cooking competition.ย  Each participating team consisted of four members, and a culinary advisor mentor, who worked together to create a meal from a box of food items that the Food Bank typically distributes through its pantry network.

With over 20 years of litigation experience, Karen V. Vincent focuses her practice on the representation of employers, self-insured companies, and insurance carriers in workersโ€™ compensation defense matters.

Ms. Vincent earned her J.D. from Widener University School of Law and a B.A. degree from Colorado State University. Capehart Scatchard is pleased to announce that Crosley L. Gagnon, Esq. has recently joined its School Law Department as an associate in its Mount Laurel, NJ office.

Ms. Gagnon concentrates her practice on the representation of boards of education and school districts in all areas of education law including labor and employment, special education, Section 504, student discipline, student records, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act, School Ethics Act, student residency, civil rights, tenure, negotiations, Open Public Records Act, and Open Public Meetings Act.

Ms. Gagnon previously worked as a summer law clerk at the firm. She earned her J.D. from Rutgers Law School in Camden and a B.S. degree in Hospitality Business Management from the University of Delaware.ย  Upon law school graduation, Ms. Gagnon worked as a law clerk to the Honorable Richard J. Nocella, J.S.C.ย  in Burlington County.ย  She is admitted to practice law in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

In celebration of Womenโ€™s History Month, Aminata C. Kamara, Jaclyn M. Terranova, and Megan A. Wilson, attorneys from the firmโ€™s Workersโ€™ Compensation Department, recently attended a judicial reception honoring four judges from the tri-state area who are alumnae of Rutgers Law School.ย  The firm was a sponsor of the event held on March 22, 2024, at Rutgers Law School in Camden, NJ.

Rutgers Law Alumnae Network, Womenโ€™s Law Caucus, and the Minority Student Program hosted the reception. The alumnae who received recognition included the Hon. Fewer than 5% of lawyers in the state are selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers.

Additionally, Christina Dewland (Civil Litigation: Defense), Stacey Gorin (Creditor Debtor Rights), Nuo Jiang (Civil Litigation: Defense), and Edward Kuhn, III (Personal Injury General: Defense) were selected for inclusion in the 2024 New Jersey Super Lawyers – Rising Stars edition. Fewer than 2.5% of lawyers in the state are selected for inclusion in Rising Stars.

Capehart Scatchard is pleased to announce that effective February 14, 2024, Litigation Department shareholder, Voris M. Tejada, Jr., is the firmโ€™s new Hiring Shareholder. He is replacing Sanmathi (Sanu) Dev, Co-Chair of the School Law Department, who was the firmโ€™s Hiring Shareholder for six years.

Mr. Tejada focuses his practice in the representation of clients in business disputes arising from breaches of contract, complex financial transactions, real estate acquisition and development, and ownership disputes. His practice includes the defense of commercial entities in matters involving insured claims, including commercial torts, tort defense, class actions, and general liability.

He received his J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law, with honors, and a B.A. degree in History from Duke University. Mr. Tejada is admitted to practice law in NJ and PA.

Attorneys from Capehart Scatchardโ€™s Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Committee recently participated as guest readers in the Read Across America Week 2024 event. Workersโ€™ Compensation Department shareholder, Ana-Eliza Bauersachs, and School Law Department associate, Stacey Gorin, remotely read books to students from elementary schools across Burlington County to help spread the joy of reading. The Burlington County Bar Associationโ€™s Diversity, Inclusion and Leadership Committee organized the fun and rewarding event. Ms. Bauersachs chairs the firmโ€™s D&I Committee.
